When I was in the military stationed in Italy, I became pregnant with my 1st child. I had to be hospitalized sometime around my 6 month of pregnancy. (BTW the hospital was awesome…I had a view of the Leaning Tower of Pisa from my hospital window!). In the hospital, meals were served in the typical Italian way in courses starting with an antipasti, next the pasta or meat dish, followed by a salad, along with a small bottle of wine. Though the food was great, I refrained from drinking the wine, and would just set the bottle off to the side. After a couple of days, my doctor noticed that I had amassed a small collection of bottles of wine. He asked me why was I not drinking the wine. I thought he was being a smart aleck and replied “Duh, doctor, I”m pregnant!” The doctor looked at me and laughed – loudly. He said “You Americans kill me. Wine is good for you and the baby. The wine has iron in it. You need the iron and the baby needs the iron. A glass of wine with your meals is not going to kill you. Drink the wine.” So I did. From that day on, and throughout the rest of my pregnancy, I continued to enjoy a glass of wine with my meals. Today that baby is a very happy, healthy, normal teenager, having suffered no ill effect from the wine I drank while pregnant.
i think you have good ideas, but you're rushing. there aren't enough descriptive details and you aren't setting up the setting or the characters descriptively. don't be afraid to slow down, you're kind of rushing straight from action to action.
for instance, in only a minute of reading a major development (being sucked into the computer) has occurred, and it feels too soon. you have good ideas, develop them before you throw out another one and don't rush or the book will end up being too short and not very deep. keep writing
