   We are currently living in the house we have lived in most of my childhood. Our home is located right up the hill from my grandparents and always seemed to be a gathering spot for my friends and family. My house is one level and is nothing less than southern. A large front porch and back deck for grilling allow for easy entertaining and midnight talks in the rocking chairs on the front porch. Our iron urns house macho ferns the size of Houston, Texas and guard either side of our front door. Simple southern touches make my house my home which I love and miss so much.A.)Living RoomWhenever you walk through the front door you land in our living room. The large room housed many of my favorite pieces as a child. I still feel special every time I come home and see my huge portrait hanging over the mantle and the other Corey shrine touches throughout the room. The couches were a tan chenille fabric with oversized pillows with touches of cranberry and green which accented the floor to ceiling checked curtains and sage green walls. An oversized leather chair and recliner always seemed to call my name and was my “spot” when watching a TV show or movie. The room also was home to my piano, which is still one of my favorite gifts I have ever received. Being an only child the room was special to me because it is where my mother and I spent time together whether it was watching a movie, playing a game or camping out around the piano listening to me play her favorite songs. The room also was instrumental in holiday activities being it was home to 2 Christmas trees placed on either side of the room and was where Santa left all of his goodies. B.)KitchenTo the left of the living room was the coveted kitchen. The kitchen serves a pathway between the living room and dining room. The golden walls of the kitchen went nicely with the cherry cabinets, hardwood floors and dark countertops. The room was full of antique pieces of pottery, porcelain and other objects, which was placed in the large space between the cabinets and the ceilings. The kitchen was a very special place for me because it was where my mother would spend hours cooking for holiday dinners and events, preparing delicious dishes that were enjoyed by everyone. C.) Dining RoomThe dining room has to be my favorite place in the entire house. The room houses my favorite piece of furniture, which is a handmade Indonesian Hutch. The antique piece was a Birthday gift to my mother from one of her friends. The piece serves as a bar and houses all of our glassware and alcohol. The hardwood floors go nicely with the cherry wood dining table and the floral cranberry curtains. There is nothing better than the nights spent around the table telling stories, playing games and making memories.C.)My BedroomThe décor of my room was constantly changing as I went from a child to a teenager. The room I remember most fondly was the time I encouraged my mother to paint my bedroom red. The red bedroom was a hit with all of my family and friends. I at the time had a cherry twin bed, which was equipped with a Ralph Lauren madras plaid comforter, which was full of color and went well with the wall. My room housed my various awards and pictures from various events that I had attended. My most prized possessions, my clothes, were in the room at the time before I out grew the closet and we remodeled my room to make room for more furniture and clothes. The room to me screamed success. It was a constant reminder of all of my accomplishments and encouraged me to continue to strive for the best and nothing less.D.)Master BedroomI always seemed to make my way to my mother’s bedroom for different reasons throughout the night. Being on the opposite end of the house I often would hear noises, freak out and run for the big bed. My mother’s king sized bed allowed me to rest whenever I was sick, scared or just wanted to spend time with my mother. Mama’s bathroom was and still is so fun to me. The Jacuzzi sized tube is where I go when I have had a bad day and feeling stressed. With Michael Buble blaring and bath salt in hand nothing could possibly go wrong.E.)Play RoomI seemed to spend the most time in my playroom. Aqua room was home to my computer, stereo system, art station and desk. The room was all mine. It was a campout space when friends would stay over and was where I created artwork to give to family and friends. The room was fun and gave me an opportunity to be creative and be a kid.
