wrought iron nightstands What goes good with iron?
I buy a lot of stuff on Craigslist and currently I'm trying to compile a nice bedroom set. I found a FABULOUS wrought iron black headboard, but what do you think would look good with that as far as dressers and nightstands? Dark wood? Black stuff? I'm hesitant to go all black but I don't know, it may look rad. Help me out here!
Large wrought iron headboards can be absolutely beautiful. I would suggest that you mix it up a little. You can place an inexpensive round table with an attractive covering on one side of your bed…nothing frumpy! The expense of this piece would be found in choosing a quality fabric that matches your style. You can accessorize with a tall lamp and a frame, plant or nice vase.
On the other side of your bed you can add a solid wood nightstand that is simple but unique in its own respect. This piece could be stained in a medium to dark stain or even painted to add some punch. You could even antique it by roughing it up with sandpaper if it would compliment the headboard. It can have a matching lamp and another nice accessory piece.
You can choose a stained dresser that compliments the remaining pieces. I would stay away from all black because the headboard will just blend in with it all. If you use an eclectic style, each piece makes its own statement but nothing as powerful as the focal point which would be the headboard.

Painted wrought What is the best type of gold paint to use to highlight the 'spears' etc on black painted wrought iron gates?
The gates need to be re-painted in black gloss, then the gold trim on the finnials etc have to be re-painted. Any tips on the best way to paint wrought iron gates? Any recommendations as to the best type of gold paint to use? It's going to be a fiddly job - I ain't looking forward to it!!!!
