Cast iron How to remove melted plastic from cast iron fireplace?
I left a computer speaker on top of my cast iron fireplace- tried pulling it off-which only stretched the goopy material.. fireplace is still cooling down - but I have NO idea of HOW to get that stuff off??
After your fireplace cools, try using a non-abrasive item i.e. spatula (you don't want to add scratches to the cast iron) to get under the plastic and lift off. Otherwise, carefully, and gently warm the plastic (maybe from inside the fireplace if able, with a lighter) and wipe off? Or, maybe putting ice cubes on the plastic would 'freeze' it stiff enough to be able to chip off.

How to remove the section of cast iron pipe going through the cement/foundation & into the septic?
We have removed all of the other cast iron pipe in the home. However, we can not figure out how to get the cast iron pipe out of the cement foundation wall. Please help asap! Thanks!
Sounds like your replacing your drain. If you replace all and don't need 4" because of the load on the pipe then just cut the cast iron and use it as a sleeve for the new 3" drain pipe. If you have already ran it in 4" use a chisel to break the pipe and remove it. The new PVC pipe will be tough to get into the same hole but if you use a 2x6 placed on the end of the pipe you can drive it through. Make sure the wood lay's flat on the end of the pipe and hit it with a hammer, it will work fine. This is not a big deal and will work out with little trouble. in most cases for a home,If you have 3 toilets or less you really are not required to have a 4" stub out. Use hydraulic cement to seal inside and out. There is no problem removeing the pipe, it will not hurt the wall at all if you replace it useing the same hole.

You can also use a regular cast Iron skillet just place 4-5 cored apples in the pan, add a little apple juice, butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon and bake at 375 for about 30-45 minutes until tender
