I have a marble table with a wrought iron base that want to move out on to the patio. How do I seal the marble to keep it from freezing and cracking? I live in Birmingham, AL so we don't have a lot of real cold weather but it does rain and freeze occasionally.

Will rain water hurt a marble top table?
I want to order the Bombay Company's bistro table with the marble top for my patio. Is it okay to keep it in an uncovered patio. Will rain water hurt the marble top or wrought iron?
Both should be fine. But I would apply a marble sealer to the marble top to seal the marble this will help it repel stains/dirt etc. But after that it should be fine. A marble sealer is available at any major hardware store and are inexpensive.
I have wrought iron patio chairs I've had for years on the patio without a problem. I did apply a clear matt varnish spray to them to help weather the storms. Which is easy to do you can apply a spray sealer to the wrought iron. Just a clear spray from rustoleom, etc. Which will keep it from rusting out, but wrought iron is VERY durable as is marble.
Marble has been used for statues, cemetery stones, etc for hundreds of years. And wrought iron fences last for decades so you should be fine. Sealing is very inexpensive, it's easy to do, will protect your investment and keeping it looking good for over the long term.

My housemate has a set that she called painted wrought iron, but it is definitely not wrought iron. I looked up this set on the internet and found that the material is something called "wrought aluminum" - it is lighter weight and cheaper and flimsier and probably why it broke in the first place. She thinks it can be soldered to fix it, but I think it would not work well. I said I think you can solder on iron, but if it had been iron it probably wouldn't have broken in the first place. I think it is trash now but she thinks it is fixable and worth fixing. Who is right?

wrought iron dining chairs How can I fix dents in my hardwood floors caused by the ball coasters on my dining room chairs.?
I just inherited some chairs that have ball coasters on them and started using them with my dining table. I notice yesterday the floors have tons of dents in them and they must be from the coasters. I had no idea this would happen. My floors are original from when the home was built in 1972. They're nice but I wonder if the previous owner tried to get away cheap and just put one coat of sealant on them. They seem to get damaged so easily. I've read about using the damp cloth and iron but wondered if this would work for so many dents.
Just as a note. Finishes are generally 3-7 thousands of an inch thick. They in no meaningful way would affect the density of the 3/4" of wood below them.
You might try steaming them out, but are unlikely to be successful, as you would have to get moisture through the finish and not damage it.
About your only choices are: - live with it - get your floors redone -- sanding and refinishing.

Injured Wife and Mother in law driving me nuts?
My wife and mother in law are driving me nuts. About 3 weeks ago my wife had a knee operation making it difficult for her to get around let alone to any chores. I work two jobs. I have a professional carrier and a business I am trying to get get off the ground. So needless to say I have my hands full. My mother in law says she is coming over to help my wife, but what that means is they go out shopping and dining. My mother in law pushes my wife around in a wheel chair and my wife is still in pain and just wants to rest at home. So when I get home I am expected to vacuum the house, wash the dishes, cook a dinner, do the laundry, pay the bills, iron the cloths. My wife takes after my father in law. She is a cleaning fanatic. Once something is dirty it HAS to be cleaned or the world will end.
Am I crazy to think that my mother in law should help my wife by cleaning up the house while I am working? Isn't doing the things you can't do the definition of "helping out". Help me out here!
Your MIL is probably just trying to give your wife some TLC...special treatment to make her feel good during a time when it is easy to get down and depressed. Try to see it this way and if you can, you can feel happy for your wife that she is getting the royal treatment.
Maybe you could talk to your MIL and ask her if she can give you a hand. Have specific things in mind, like say "would you be a darling and fold that laundry for us today - it would be such a big help!" She may come onboard.
If not then you need to make sure that you take time to rest. Some things might have to wait, so prioritize. Surely your wife can see how hard you are working, so let her know that not everything will be done on time and perfectly for a while. You might even suggest that she ask her mom for some housework help - it is probably best if she asks.

I have a wrought iron patio set with 4 chairs & a table.There is rust on our patio cement,how do I prevent it?
I understand after time rust will form on the patio cement underneath because it is wrought iron, but what can I do to prevent rust forming on our cement? I don't like the idea of artificial grass, etc.... the patio itself isn't rusted, but the issue is this. after time when it rains the rain drips off the wrought iron causing rust on my cement. how di prevent this.
First, you need to sand the rust off the metal. Then you need to paint the bottom of the table and chairs with an outdoor paint made for metal.
Home Depot or Lowe's may haves small pieces of plastic that attach to the legs of the chairs and table for a more long term solution.
