I've got an old fashioned claw foot cast iron tub. I've heard that they're supposed to retain heat and keep your bath warm longer, but I have a heck of a time getting it warm to begin with! I fill it with hot water, but the tub is so cold it ends up being luke warm by the time it's full. If I really want a warm bath then I dump a few kettles of boiling water in, but that just brings it up to "warm" not "hot" like I'm wanting.
Any tricks or tips out there from more experienced cast iron bath tub owners?

Cast Iron Bath Manufacturing
I have kept my old cast iron bath to use in the garden. Suggestions please.?
I thought I might sink it into a trench and make a bog garden. Or use as a water trough for sheep. Or a tank to soak willow in or just for water so I could water the hedgerow more easily. It is extremely heavy so I can only move it once. Any other ideas or suggestions?
I would be totally stoked to have that in my garden. I have been looking for something like this to make a water garden with, but like you said, they are heavy as heck. You should make a water garden, and depending on your weather, you may even be able to do small fish and aquatic snails. Below is a link for a really good book on how to make water gardens, its called "Container Water Gardens for Hobbyists". Its out of print but you can find copies, I used this to set up a small water garden of my own. The book contains plant info, as well as how to set up pumps if you wanna go that route. Like I said, an old fashioned iron tub makes a perfect water garden.

Depends on what it's made of. If it's laminate, you're SOL. You'll have to replace the counter. If it's a solid material like Corian, you can sand it out, but you'll have a depression where the burn was, and you'll need to polish the mark up really well so it doesn't stand out. Most likely you'll have to replace.

How do I remove a heat stain from a bathroom countertop?
We have a marble countertop in the bathroom, and I had left my flat iron on there while it was pluged in, and it had left a yellow, 3" x 1 1/2" mark on there. I'd assume it was a heat mark/stain. anyway to get it off? I heard sandpaper it off, but I thought it'd ruin the marble. (at least I think it's marble)
If it is marble, or granite, it can be buffed out. Don't use sand paper, you will never get the smoothness back. If it is Formica, well then it is done. But you can have a new layer of mica glued on. Again no sand paper. If you know someone with an electric buffer for cars, that may work.

Ok I left my curling iron on too long and it left a light brown mark on my countertop. I dont know for sure what the countertop is made out of but it looks like a off white marble of some kind. I already tried toothpaste and baking soda - didnt work. And i dont want to scratch it - so I dont want to use anything too abrasive. Thanks!
unfortunately the mark is a burn not a stain. Without resurfacing the the counter top you will probably always have a reminder to turn you curling iron off.
