iron furnishings How can I augment a sheet of glass to get rid of the green tint and make it look white?
More specifically, my wife and I decided to decorate our home with white custom made wood furnishings. We used white polyurethane paint asked that a sheet of glass be placed on all surfaces (dining table, coffee table) for added protection. However, due to the large size of our tables an equally large (and thick) piece of sheet glass had to be used to cover the surface. The problem we're now facing is that, due to the thickness of the glass sheets there is a prominent green tint visible that is in contrast with the white color we had hoped to maintain. I understand now why the green tint is there (iron impurities) but I'd be interested in a solution to get the surface to look white somehow whilst preserving the structural benefits and convenience of the glass itself. I've considered a white vinyl sticker, sandblasting....really not sure what makes the most sense in terms of a long term, zero maintenance, rugged, clean solution. Any feedback would be well received!

This unit if free standing on a nice square base and is Victorian in feel. It looks like a lamp post (no lamp) with a bracket on each side which holds a basket for flowers outdoors.
I believe what you are looking for is called a shephard's hook. I have seen different varities of these at home and garden centers. Home Depot, Wal-Mart, Lowe's, your local garden centers, should all have these.

In my living room I have cream colored canvas sofas w/ black and cream pillows. Would red curtains look good in that room if the next room in sight already has red curtains? If not, what color would you recommend for the room with the cream-colored sofas? Please keep in mind that the adjoining room (the dining room) has a dark, gothic feel to it (dark wood, wrought iron scones/decor), but the living room is supposed to have a brighter feel, with its light couches.
So you have an open floorplan where the dining room is open or visible from the livingroom and the diningroom is dark wood paneling and furniture, red draperies, wrought iron sconces, sort of Gothic inspired. But the livingroom has windows that need draperies, but should have a lighter feel than the dining room, the sofas are offwhite with blackand cream accent pillows. Without knowing whats on the floor ill assume that the living room is beige carpet and the diningroom has a wood floor. Why dont you do the red draperies in the living room but have them made into roman shade and mounted inside the frames, this will be more talored and clean and bright but still match the dining room, plus this room needs a pop of red. Add a red throw on the sofa, and maybe a black and cream pattern accent pillow that looks like wrought iron. Accessorise the living room lavishly and it will feel bright without being stark in comparison.
