wrought iron stairs Help picking colors to tie things together?
Im looking at buying a house with nice dark cherry cabinets, black granite counter tops, tan travertine (spell?) flooring, and a little darker brownish carpet. I'm trying to figure out a paint color scheme that would work to tie these all together. The stairs banister is also cherry with wrought iron bars... the bathroom has antiqued hardware but lighter tile and the same brownish carpet... any ideas? tips? etc? thanks!
i think you should consider a yellow, not vibrant but more of a popcorn butter yellow. I have cherry cabinets and accent them with matching wood work then other co lours we have in the room is a olive green that looks great and makes it pop hope this helps

A great idea is to searcg for reclamation and architectural salvage in your area. Look in the yelloow pasges and contact area antique dealers. Many of them are familiar with salvage in your area. If you want custom, call a local ironworks. Visit their shop and work with them to get the design you desire. Ask lots of questions up front to assure you get wehat you want. You might also ask for references or to see examples of recent installations. Sometimes there's some on ebay and sometimes www.vandykes.com has some.

I wasn't quite sure how much those were going to be but I estimated $1,000 a year, and didn't want to go over 20K, so I pulled out at 19K.
I still love the house, though. It's so pretty. I don't care that I didn't get it, as long as *someone* gets it and treats it right.

He *loves* that building – I think mostly for the wrought iron stairs that go down to the first floor under the bridge. He thinks that is awesome.
